OASIS DOWNWIND

THE DOWNWIND
This downwind is ideal for any kitesurfer who has already practised this discipline, because some days for part of the trip, the 4×4 support will not be available, although they will never be far away.
Each day you will travel about 30 km on the water, driven by winds of 20 to 35 knots and with all kinds of water conditions. On the sixth day you will have to test yourself with the longest journey of the trip, something easy with the practice of the previous days and an extra break.
THE VILLAGES
During this kite trip, you will sail along the coast of Ceará, from Cumbuco, Brazil’s kitesurfing capital, to Jericoacoara, the pearl of the Nordeste.
Every day you will sleep in a new place, enjoying both remote areas and tourist sites. The opportunity to know and understand by yourself what makes this region so different from the rest of Brazil.
NATURE
The strength of the water and the wind are the main actors of the coast, shaping its coastline and filling it with life. You will discover it from a privileged point of view.
Deserted beaches dominate the landscape, where only a few fishermen venture to provide for the needs of their communities. While each encounter with a river will leave paradisical landscapes full of vivacity.
HOW IS THE JOURNEY
Cumbuco - Paracuru, 35 km
On the first day, you will start the downwind along Cumbuco’s beach with the 4x4 support following you closely most of the way.
Gradually you will leave civilization to start discovering deserted beaches and cliffs until Taíba’s lagoon, where you will stop for an apéritif.
Very soon after leaving, you will pass through Paracuru, the best wave spot in Ceará. It is the ideal place to end a first day under the colours of the sunset.
Paracuru - Guajiru, 32 km
The starting point will be the beach on the other side of the Curu river, you will leave as soon as the wind picks up, followed by the 4x4 support which will not leave you all day.
During the first part of the navigation, you will enjoy playing in the waves in the middle of a virgin landscape and some local fishermen, until you arrive in Lagoinha.
After passing the Lagoa do Jegue and the mouth of the Trairi river, you will stop next to the beach to regain strength and continue to Guajirú.
Once there, you can continue to kite on its beautiful beach, in front of your pousada, and finally relax with a caipirinha at the end of the day.
Guajiru - Baleia, 30 km
Today you will pass by deserted beaches and small fishing villages, always maintaining a visual contact with the support on land.
You will navigate through some waves areas after Flecheiras, until you reach the mouth of the Mundaú river, a paradise of flat waters. A little later you will arrive to Baleia guided by your instructor, he will know where the reef areas are, although they are easily visible.
Baleia - Icaraizinho, 30 km
A good breakfast, some stretching and the wind will already be waiting for you for one of the quieter parts of the trip, always followed by the ground support.
You will be sailing in deep water with some areas where a few rocks will be visible, near the coast. After a break at Caetanos beach, you will leave for the last and most beautiful section of the day which will take you to the bay of Icaraizinho.
At the pousada everything will be ready for the evening, you can decide whether you want to stop or continue to kite until sunset.
Icaraizinho - Ilha do Guajiru, 30 km
Today's journey is one of the most beautiful of the trip, where the rivers offer a landscape very different from the previous days, with many inaccessible places for the 4x4 support.
As soon as you pass Icaraí, you will arrive in Moitas and its river mouth filled with mangroves, you will take a break a little further down the beach of Patos.
From here to Ilha do Guajiru, a surprising and virgin landscape shows us the way to one of the most amazing places in Brazil, where you will not be able to resist kiting in its amazing flat lagoon until sunset.
Ilha do Guajiru - Barrinha, 55 km
This is, without a doubt, the most demanding day of the whole week, so you will be taking two breaks during the journey to keep your energy high and enjoy until the end of the day.
In the first part, you will kite between rivers and areas of shallow and calm waters, beautiful and quiet places until the first break on the beach of Arpoeiras.
The next stop will be at Aranaú beach, an area protected by a sandbank formed by the mouth of the river.
Then you will continue along a large beach that will take you to a wind farm, behind which you will find Barrinha and its fishing boats, a typical and welcoming village in the Nordeste.
Barrinha- Jericoacoara, 20 km
You will go downwind from Barrinha, to Preá, the beach that hosts the kitesurfing world cup final, until reaching the entrance of Jericoacoara National Park.
Once there you will stop to check that everything is in order to continue with the last section, in which you will not have the 4x4 support.
Here you will have to go through an area of cliffs where you should not stop, but at this point, nothing can slow you down on the way to Jeri where the celebration of the end of the downwind is waiting for you.
